Macon, GA - Robert. E. "Bobby" Riley, 83, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 28, 2021. Services will be held Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at Gumlog Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 42 Swain Creek Rd, Kite, Georgia. Elder Bill Torrance, Bobby's first cousin, will officiate.
Mr. Riley was born on February 7, 1938, a native of Macon, he was a devoted and loving husband, father, father-in-love, and grandfather. He will be remembered by his children and grandchildren as an honest and humble man with a deep commitment to family and those in need. He never shied away from making his love for you known and felt. Words often spoken of him described a loving, sincere, patient, and supportive peacemaker. His last spoken words were, "Take care of each other."
He was a 1956 graduate of Lanier High School (Macon, GA) and attended Mercer University. And Southern Institute of Technology. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1961-1966 and was a member of Vineville Baptist Church.
Mr. Riley's first career was in the brick industry serving in supervisory positions with Burns Brick Company and Cherokee Brick Company, Macon; Jenkins Brick Company, Montgomery, Alabama and Teague Brick Company, Teague Texas. His second career was in sales with his brother in the general contracting business, Macon. Everywhere he worked he was respected for his honesty, fairness, and kindness to others.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alton Eugene Riley and Elizabeth Adams Riley; brothers-in-law Billy Mixon and Pete Carter and sisters-in-law Beth Eckman and Anne Riley.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Paige Claxton Riley, Macon; sons Jeff (Catherine) Riley, Johns Creek, Georgia and Jeremy (Kristi) Riley Macon, Georgia; grandchildren Allison Riley, New York City, New York, Jill Riley and Luke Riley, Johns Creek, Georgia; sister, Shirley Mixon, Barney, Georgia; brother, Paul Riley, Macon, Georgia; sisters-in law Jane Carter, Dry Branch, Georgia and Linda Claxton, Macon, Georgia; aunts Janie Torrance, Vidalia, Georgia, and Ann Amos, Macon, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be greatly missed by his devoted partner, Nellie, his Boston Terrier named after Willie Nelson.
Pallbearers are Robert Riley, Josh Logue, Cameron Claxton, Jason Carter, Nick Ivey, Jimmy Ivey and Joel Scott.
