Rodney Dewayne Brinson, more commonly known as Dewayne to his family and friends, passed away on June 28th, 2022, after a lengthy battle with various health issues.
Dewayne was born January 30th, 1959, in Dublin, GA and moved with his family to Alaska in 1975, where he remained until his death. A talented chef, Dewayne was the proud owner/operator of Don's Kitchen in Seward, Alaska, the Family Steakhouse in Wasilla, and most recently, DD's Burgers in Anchorage. His love and passion was even recognized by DD's Burgers being publicly noted as having one of the best burgers in Alaska!
Aside from his love for cooking, Dewayne also enjoyed fishing and unwinding with computer games. Considered a "master debater", Dewayne did not shy away from debating politics. He also always made it a point to be present at family get-togethers whether it was a holiday, kid's birthday party, or just a Wednesday evening. Any family get-together, Dewayne could be counted on to bring a case of his favorite drink, Dr. Pepper, which he would graciously share.
Dewayne was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Dean Brinson. He is survived, remembered, and loved by his mother Betty Burgamy, daughter Amber Salazar and son-in-law Armando, son Michael Brinson, grand-daughters Isabelle and Anaya Salazar, brother Billy Brinson and sister-in-law Heidi, sister Katherine Brinson, best friend Scott White, and many aunts and uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews.
His family will be holding a funeral service at Legacy Funeral Homes Kehl's Chapel located on Old Seward Highway in Anchorage on July 6th with a viewing from 1pm-2pm and services immediately after. The services will also be available via Livestream on the Legacy Funeral Homes website.
A subsequent viewing and funeral service will be held in Dewayne's hometown of Dublin, GA. The viewing will be held on July 8th from 6pm-8pm at Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory at 1320 North Jefferson Street, Dublin, Georgia 31021. The funeral service will take place the following day on July 9th at 11:00 AM in the Chan Stanley Memorial Chapel at Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Doug Bridges officiating.
