Funeral services for Mr. Ronald Caneega, age 79, were held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with interment following at Westview Cemetery. Rev. Chris Mitchell and Mr. Ralph Veal officiated.
Mr. Caneega was born January 17, 1938 in Wrightsville, Georgia; he was preceded in death by his parents, the late Andrew Caneega and Corene Hammock Caneega and four siblings, Joyce Lee, Elsie Mitchell, Carl Caneega and Martin Caneega, as well as two great-granddaughters, Evalee & Elsie Hewett. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was retired from the United States Postal Service. Mr. Caneega was very instrumental in starting Little League Baseball in Johnson County and he also spent time as a coach at Washington Johnson Community School. He enjoyed spending time cooking, fishing and was an avid sports fan. He was also known for sharing his vegetables, through his love of gardening, with his many friends and family. Mr. Caneega passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017 at his home.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Brinnette Veal Caneega, a son, Dwayne (Christi) Caneega of East Dublin, three daughters, Tralaine (Robert) Hollis and Donna (Robbie) Attaway both of Milledgeville and Patrice (Harold) Tanner of Wrightsville, seven grandchildren, Beau Ivey, Matthew Attaway, Lindsay Attaway, Brantley Attaway, Chloe Caneega Hewett, Ciara Caneega and Chaz Tanner and seven great-grandchildren.
Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel had charge of funeral arrangements.
