Funeral services for Ronald Clifford Carter, age 67 will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 26, 2019 in the Chan Stanley Memorial Chapel of Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory, with interment to follow at Carters Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Dr. Larry Daniel will officiate.
Ronald was born February 24, 1952 in Dublin, Georgia. He was the son of the late Elmer Claude "Fet" Carter. He was also preceded in death by a beloved twin brother, Donald Carr Carter, and a son Christopher Carter. He loved to fish, ride his tractor, go camping, and make people laugh. His family has always been inspired by his love of God and his church family at Mt. Zion Baptist Church and Antioch Baptist Church. He retired from the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center after 30 years of service. He received a Special Contribution award from the Department of Veterans Affairs for a unique contribution to the mission of the department.
Ronald always talked about his twin brother, Donald C. Carter, anytime someone different came into Ronald and Judy's home, he always showed them the wall with his and Donald's picture of them as two babies, as teenagers, and on up until they were grown men. He said they always dressed alike from birth until they graduated. They always said after they were grown men, that they knew why the Lord made two of them because they needed each other.
Ronald's favorite time growing up was sitting on his grandpa Carter's front porch with his grandpa and their daddy talking about cotton fields. Mr. Carter passed away Sunday, November 24, 2019 at his residence.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Judy Soles Carter of Dexter, his mother, Dona Lou Carter of Dublin, his daughter, April Watson of Tampa, FL, his step daughter, Tina (Alan) Myers of Dexter, a stepson, Jamie (Sharon) Mills of Rockledge, 7grandchildren, Meagan Myers Gay, Colby Myers, Christian Watson, Katlin Mills, Trey Mills, Abby Gail Watson, and Payne Mills, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 26, 2019 from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM at the funeral home.
