Born, Roxana Lea Thompson, December 6, 1932, in Sebring, Ohio, to Orin Wesley Thompson and Esther Leah Stoffer, "Sister Hinton", as she was affectionately called, went to be with Jesus, her life's Lord and Savior, on Thursday, May 4, 2023. Though an only child, she had countless brothers and sisters in her extended Family of God.
Roxana was preceded in death by her husband of almost 67 years, Rev. Jack Hinton, son, Rev Wesley Hinton, and daughter-in-law, Jan Hinton. Surviving their mom are Dr. Jack Hinton, her eldest son, and Roxanne Hinton, who Roxana always referred to as her "baby girl", and daughter-in-law, Cindy Hinton. There are two grandchildren, Jeremy Hinton, with his wife Angela, and Jana Whitlock, with her husband Ryan, and five great grandchildren: Hunter Hinton, Tyler Hinton, Reagan Whitlock, Liam Whitlock and Gabe Surrency.
A long-time resident of Adrian, Georgia, she and her husband previously pastored the Wrightsville Church of the Nazarene and the Mt. Olive Church of the Nazarene, where she was an active member, never missing a service. A lifetime member of the Suwannee Holiness Camp in White Springs, Florida; she never missed a retreat or camp meeting.
Renowned for her prayer life, she was a prayer warrior to the end. Though sick herself, her last efforts included praying for others.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 P.M. Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Mount Olive Church of the Nazarene, 591 Mt. Olive Church Road, Wrightsville, GA 31096, with Rev. L.T. Logue officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 P.M. in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends for a meal at 11:00 A.M. at the church's Family Life Center and a visitation will be held from 11:45 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. in the sanctuary prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Dane Braswell, Gary McCord, Robert Soles, Paul Keene, Jeremy Hinton and Tyler Hinton. Honorary pallbearers will be Doyle Knight and Billy Thompson.
In lieu of flowers, mom would have wanted any expressions given to the Suwannee Holiness Camp Association. Donations can be sent to c/o Tricia Snellgrove, P.O. Box 15861, Panama City, FL 32406-5861.
