Russell "Crow" Stephens

Graveside services for Russell Stephens, age 79, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 16, 2024, in Westview Cemetery. Rev. James Covington and Mr. Thurmon Foskey officiating.

Mr. Stephens was born on March 8, 1944, in Scott, Georgia. On May 22, 1978, he began working for W. F. Jackson Construction Co. and retired on January 31, 2007, where he was known as "Crow". He was a dedicated employee and only missed 4 days of work in his 29 years there. He enjoyed riding around being nosey, baling hay, cutting grass, picking up pecans and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Brown Memorial Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elry and Marie Hargrove Stephens, 3 sisters, Mae Townsend, Darthy Grant, and Georgia Stephens Smith, and his brother, Jim Poole. Mr. Stephens passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at his residence.

He is survived by his son, Scott (Julie) Stephens of Wrightsville; a daughter, Marla Stephens Jackson of Wrightsville; a sister, Iola Stephens Covington of East Dublin; his former wife, Linda B. Joiner of Wrightsville; grandchildren, Landon Stephens, Taylor Stephens, Morgan Jackson, and Abby Stephens; and great grandchild, Evi Jewel Green.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 A.M. Friday at Westview Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Lee Duggan, Jim Ledford, Stevie Clements, Jay Foskey, Eric Hadden, and Perry Rogers.

Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel has charge of the funeral arrangements.
