Sandy Smith Ballance

June 15, 1956 — March 4, 2019

Sandy Smith Ballance passed away surrounded by family on the evening of March 4, 2019 after a six year long battle with cancer. Mrs. Ballance was born on June 15, 1956 in Dublin, GA, the daughter of the late Wendell Smith and Dorothy Kibler Smith. She is survived by 3 sons, Kevin Lowery, Jeff Ballance, and Chris Ballance, their partners, Robbin Lowery and Lillian Haas, and her grandson, Grey Lowery. She attended UGA and retired from a dearly loved career in antique furniture and gifts, beginning at Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson, then at Panhandler Group in Toronto, Canada, before joining her mother at The Collection in Dublin for 30 years, which included many buying adventures to England, Europe, and the Far East. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she participated in her dearly beloved bible study groups, and she was a dedicated GA Bulldawg fan. However, her greatest joys were her sons and precious grandson. Donations may be made to First United Methodist Church and Christ Episcopal Church. Her family will receive visitors at Stanley Funeral Home from 5 - 7 pm Thursday, March 7, and the funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church on Friday, March 8 at 1 pm. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
