Sarah Lanell "Nell" Powell

Sarah Lanell (Nell) Powell, age 88, of East Dublin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Serenity Hospice in Dublin. Mrs. Powell was a dedicated member of East Dublin Dayspring Worship Center. She was a retired seamstress and food service worker. The desire of her heart was to serve God, family, and others. This was displayed through her commitment and faithfulness to everyone she loved. She was preceded in death by her parents Gaynor and Idoma Ferrell; husband, Marvin Powell, Jr; daughters, Marsha Powell Hobbs and Carol Powell Brewer; brothers, Ernest Wilkerson, Bobby T. Ferrell, Earl Ferrell, and Edison Ferrell; and one sister, Fannie Lou Whisnant. Survivors include her daughter Brenda Powell Manley of Dublin and one sister Virginia Ferrell Frost of Wrightsville, twelve grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren. Her grandsons Curt Poole, Chris Channell Sr, Casey Loftin, Kip Poole, Stacey Loftin, Shannon Claxton, and Matt Hobbs will serve as pallbearers. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, April 28, 2019 in the Richard N. Stanley, Jr. Memorial Chapel, with interment to follow at Westview Cemetery. Rev. Kenny Rowland and Rev. Burton Dixon will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:45 P.M. Sunday, April 28, 2019 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Serenity Hospice of Dublin or Last Chance Ministries Rehab of Wrightsville. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
