Shirley B. Hicks

Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley B. Hicks, age 72 will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, December 20, 2014 in the Chan Stanley Memorial Chapel of Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory, with interment to follow at Northview Cemetery. Rev. Joey Diers and Mr. Dan Childers will officiate. Mrs. Hicks was born on July 30, 1942 in Dublin, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Sherrod Jake and Gwendolyn Mae Sanders Bailey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry "Bud" Hicks, Jr. She was retired from Goody's Department Store, and was also a homemaker . She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. Shirley enjoyed fishing, gardening, and loved her family, friends, and her pets. Mrs. Hicks passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Sheridan Place. Mrs. Hicks was survived by her 2 sons, Henry "Hank" (Denise) Hicks, III of Rentz, and Jon Charles "Chuck" Hicks of Dublin, a daughter, Debra Hicks Ernestine of Dublin, a brother, Douglas "Doug" W. Bailey of Dublin, a sister, Sara Bailey Knight of Dublin, a grandson, Logan David Ernestine, and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Walt Bailey, Coley Brantley, Bailey Brantley, and Ernie Sanders. The family will receive friends at the home of Sara and Jr. Knight at 454 Taylor Rowland Road in Dexter and from 1:30 P.M. until 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the funeral home. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
