Funeral services for Mr. James Stephen Deal, age 62, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Corinth United Methodist Church with interment to follow at Westview Cemetery. Rev. Donna Avera will officiate.
Mr. Deal was born September 13, 1953 in Swainsboro, Georgia; he was the son of Adelaide Braddy Deal and the late Harold Deal. He was a member of Brown Memorial Baptist Church and the Sons of the Confederate Veterans. He was the former owner/operator of Sheppard's Restaurant and he retired from the United States Postal Service after 36 years of service. His greatest love was his family but he also expressed his love for music, gardening and photography. When he was younger, he played the trombone and tuba in a band at Brewton Parker College. Mr. Deal passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016 at his residence following an extended illness.
He is survived, in addition to his mother, Adelaide, by his wife, Fran Deal of Meeks, his children, Stephanie Deal (Mark) Johnson of Milledgeville, Wiley Stephen (Summer) Deal of LaGrange, Heather Riner (Cassidy) Johnson of Meeks and Morris T. Riner, V of Meeks, two brothers, Bruce (Teri) Deal of Wrightsville and Gene (Alice) Deal of Athens and four grandchildren, Sara, Marli, Lilly and Lennox.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday, March 7, 2016 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ty Powell, Randy Webb, Larry Andrews, Danny Fortner, Jeff Powell and Billy Freeman.
Kenneth Deal, Dwain Deal, Bill Johnson, Keith Lamb, Eddie Flanders, Mike Goldwire and James Deal will serve as honorary escorts.
Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
