Susan Helms Drew

Funeral services for Susan Helms Drew, age 70 will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 30, 2023, in the Chan Stanley Memorial Chapel of Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory, with interment to follow at Minter Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Danny Duggar will officiate.

Mrs. Drew was born was born July 4, 1953, in Wrightsville, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Jack Vann and Vernell Smith Helms. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Mike Milton. She retired from the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center after 36 years. During her VA career, Susan worked in Medical Records, Credentialing and Privileging, and was a founding member of the Decision Support System (DSS) Team where she served for about 20 years. Susan was highly respected by her peers and was a mentor to many. She was nominated by her coworkers and selected as the DSS Employee of the Year for the Southeast Network prior to her retirement. She was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church where she developed the Awana Program and served as a previous Awana Commander. Mrs. Drew passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Drew is survived by her husband, Larry Drew of East Dublin; a daughter, Lindy (Edward) Fordham of Dublin; 2 sisters, Jackie (Glen) Gillespie of Dublin, and Mary Faith Warshaw of Monroe, NC; 3 sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Milton of Jacksonville, FL, Susie Johnson of East Dublin, and Marilyn Drew of Dublin; a grandchild, Grace Susanna Sterling; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Glen Gillespie, Shannon Drew, Stevie Drew, Steve Drew, Darrell Edge, and Harry Graham.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Friday, September 29, 2023, at the funeral home. The family will also recieve friends at the residence of Lindy and Edward Fordham at 417 Cameron Court, Dublin, GA 31021.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in memory of Mrs. Drew to Compassus Hospice at 2505 Bellevue Road, Dublin, GA 31021 or to Gideon's International at P.O. Box 27, Dublin, Georgia 31040-0027.
