Funeral services for Talmadge Eugene Poole, 90, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, January 15, 2023, in the Richard N. Stanley, Jr. Memorial Chapel with burial to follow in Bay Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Roger Byrd will officiate.
Mr. Poole was born on November 15, 1932, in Wrightsville, Georgia to the late George Cleveland and Emma Claude Rawls Poole Sr. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a founding member of the Dixie Caravan and The Gospel Sowers. He was inducted into the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame on November 29, 2014. In his spare time, he loved to fish and pick-n-grin but he loved spending time with his family most of all. Mr. Poole passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Fairview Park Hospital.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Shirley Foskey Poole of Wrightsville; daughter Melissa Coxwell (Wayne) of Scott, son Andy Poole (Melinda) of Scott, sisters Marion Davis of Jacksonville, FL and Peggy Greer of Dublin, 4 grandchildren Jessica McCoy (Ryan Griffey), Brittany Poole, Sierra Boucher (Mikey), Justin Poole (Jessie Hightower), 6 great grandchildren Ryleigh Oliver, Talon McCoy, James Griffey, Eli Griffey, McKenzie Poole, and Avery Poole and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 P.M. until 2:45 P.M. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Brian Garnto, Clark Garnto, Jay Foskey, Tyler Herring, Brandon Kight and Cameron Dover.
Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
