Thomas Earl Dyke

July 1, 1947 — August 21, 2021

Funeral services for Thomas "Tommy" Earl Dyke, age 74, will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Evergreen Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Hardeman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Dyke was born July 1, 1947, in Thomasville, Georgia to parents, Earl and Mary Dyke. He was a United States Army veteran and a member of Evergreen Methodist Church. Mr. Dyke passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at his residence. Mr. Dyke was a graduate of both the University of Georgia and University of West Georgia achieving a Master's in Education. He used his education throughout his career in the public-school systems across Georgia serving as coach, teacher, and administrator, ending his career in education retiring as the Principal of Dublin Middle School. In his retirement, Mr. Dyke continued to serve others through education by joining Johnson State Prison as a member of their education team. In his spare time, Mr. Dyke could be found on one of the many fairways across Georgia, enjoying his favorite past time of golf. While he considered his greatest achievement in life to be his family and the love they shared, many individuals who were a part of his service in education call him a mentor and credit his influence with changing the trajectory of their lives. He is survived by his son, Josh Dyke and his wife Annie, his son John Dyke, his daughter, Mary Beth Dyke Vermeer and her husband Luc, his daughter Ashley Dyke, stepdaughter, Kimberly Armstrong and her husband Andrew, his beloved Donna Ramey, grandchildren, Hayden Dyke, Cole Vermeer, Grace Vermeer, Talan John Dyke, and Elizabeth Armstrong, his nephew Andy Dyke and niece Vickie Dyke Dorn. As Tommy would say, "We ramble and gamble and go everywhere. If people don't like us, we don't care. Have a drink." The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be John Dyke, Josh Dyke, Tyler Jackson, Bobby Underwood, Ray Foskey, and Leonard T. Lawley, Jr. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
