Thomas Freeman Nickerson went home to the Lord on Wednesday January 24th at the age of 91. He is survived by his wife Anne who is the love of his life and his seven children Luanne O'Reilly, Suzanne Mickler, Dianne Miller, Thomas Nickerson II, Leanne LaRue, John Nickerson and Peter Nickerson as well as 14 grand children and 17 great grandchildren. Tom was born in Levant, Maine in 1927 and he served in the Navy during WWII. Tom was a self-made man and entrepreneur businessman starting and then selling several successful companies in Portsmouth NH, ranging from home improvement to concrete pumping. He lived in Rye NH where he and Anne raised their family and later moved to Waldoboro ME. He enjoyed a long and happy retirement traveling with his wife as an RV enthusiast and settled in Dublin GA.
He was a wonderful husband and father giving his family a lifetime of memories filled with fun, adventures, lots of laughter, sawdust, fireworks, bonfires and so much more. His passion and profession was building and wood working, but required a steady supply of bandages when he did so. He built every house he lived in and filled it with his loving touch and happy personality. In his later years his greatest joy was spending every day in his workshop making creations from wood, a piece of himself that he could freely give away to bless others. Many have received a quaker style long handle stool which became his trademark gift.
He loved the Lord with all his heart and poured out His love to all he knew. He was a member of Dublin Bible Church, had a pastors heart and was quick to offer help to all he met. He injected humor to most everything he was involved with. He was a healthy powerful man his entire life. His love for life, gentle kindness and overflowing joy continues to impact those to whom he came in contact. These traits continue to be evident in his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his many friends. We know this will continue to influence others for many generations, this is Thomas Nickerson's legacy.
Celebration services will be held Saturday, January 27th, 2:00 pm at the Dublin Bible Church, 427 Airport Rd, Dublin, GA. In lieu of flowers the family requests you send donations to the Dublin Bible Church in honor of Thomas Freeman Nickerson.
