Virgil Edge

Funeral services for Virgil Edge, age 75, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 23, 2022, in the Richard N. Stanley Jr. Memorial Chapel with burial to follow in Westview Cemetery. Rev. Carlton Evans and Rev. Jimmy Edge will officiate. Mr. Edge was born February 21, 1947, in Alston, Georgia. He was a veteran of the United States Army and received several honors including the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. He worked for Johnson State Prison as a correctional officer. He was preceded in death by his parents George Woodrow Edge and Yvonnie Faircloth Edge; brothers W. O. Edge, Willard Edge, and Billy Edge; sisters Sastine Edge and Nellie Edge; and his granddaughter Stephanie Coombs. Mr. Edge passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022, at his home. He is survived by his wife Mary Edge; son Jimmy Edge, two daughters Tammie Marie Evans and Brenda Edge; brothers Charlie Edge and Truman Edge, sisters Minnie and Carlina, 8 grandchildren and great grandchildren Luna Grace and Avery. Pallbearers will be Jack Black, Preston Barber, Keyonidrick Strickland, Ryan Edge, Travis Edge, Will Krasinski, and Kevin Brantley. Honorary pallbearer will be Matthew Edge. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12:30 P.M. to 1:45 P.M. at the funeral home prior to the service. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
