Funeral services for Mr. Wayne Langford, age 81, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Bethany Baptist Church with interment to follow at the church cemetery. Rev. Brant Kennedy will officiate.
Mr. Langford, the son of Wilfred and Evelyn Langford, was born July 15, 1935 in Hutchinson, Kansas, where he resided until 1948 when the family moved to Alva, Oklahoma. He attended school in Oklahoma before joining and serving in the United States Army for three years during the Korean Conflict. He married his wife, Claudean Mantz Langford in 1956. To this marriage was born two sons, Wayne "Allen" and Kenneth. Wayne was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth, a sister, Phyllis and his parents. After getting out of the army, they moved to Sarasota, Florida and he went to work for Florida Power & Light. In 1962, they moved to Fort Myers, Florida and he continued to work for Florida Power & Light until his retirement in 1993. Following his retirement, Wayne and Claudean moved to Johnson County, Georgia to enjoy their farm raising cattle. Wayne was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and enjoyed, sports, boating, fishing, bowling, golf and hunting. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Mr. Langford passed away, Saturday, September 10, 2016 at his home.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Claudean Langford and a son, Wayne Allen Langford, Jr. both of Johnson County.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the funeral home.
