Welton Newsome

Funeral services for Mr. Welton Elmore Newsome, age 93, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Oaky Grove Baptist Church with burial to follow at the church cemetery. Dr. Tom Akins will officiate. Mr. Newsome was born October 11, 1923 in Johnson County; he was preceded in death by his parents, the late Idie E. & Dora Mae Tapley Newsome and three brothers, Gene Newsome, Elton Newsome and Paul Newsome. He was a member of Powell's Chapel Church and was retired as a farmer. Mr. Newsome passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Wyneve Newsome of Kite, a son, Keith (Lorie) Newsome of Kite, a brother, S.A. Newsome of Kite and three grandchildren, Austin Newsome, Ansley Newsome and Evan Newsome. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Saturday, January 7, 2016 at the funeral home. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
