Graveside funeral services for William Harold Alligood, 89, will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 21, 2024, at Dublin Memorial Gardens, Dublin, GA. Rev. Jeffery W. Alligood will officiate. The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery.
Harold was born August 24, 1934, in Rentz, GA and was a graduate of Rentz High School. He was employed by J. P. Stevens Woolen Mill for several years before he began working with Progressive Rural Telephone Company in 1963 and retired in 1986 as the Outside Plant Supervisor. After retirement he was employed by Laurens County as a bailiff and by Farmers Furniture as a gate guard. He was a member of Montrose Baptist Church where he served as choir director from 1981 to 1993 and was on the building committee for the new Montrose Baptist Church in 2002.
Harold was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, papa and "haha". He enjoyed fox, rabbit, and coon hunting. Harold loved horses and horseback riding. He also enjoyed gardening and sharing vegetables with friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Ovid Alligood and Geneva B. Alligood and his son, Mark A. Alligood. Harold passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024, at his home in Dudley, GA after an extended illness.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Jackie Adams Alligood of Dudley; children, Rickey (Renee) Alligood of Rentz, Tommy (JoAnna) Alligood of Rentz, Susan (Danny) Hattaway of Dexter, Jim Kemp of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware; grandchildren, Corey (Jessi) Alligood, Brian (Lynn) Alligood, Cameron Alligood, Adrienne Alligood, Megan (Matt) Slaughter, and Macy (Keith) Tanner; great grandchildren, J'Lyn Mullis, Kyla Alligood, Avery Grace Slaughter, Emery Quinn Slaughter, Daniel Tanner, Brady Tanner, Layla Tanner, Lyla Tanner, Hannah Tanner, Haley Tanner, Jasmine Rakestraw, and Sharee Bradshaw; sister, Doris Williamson; brother, Donald (Mary Kathryn) Alligood), and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express much love and appreciation to the Serenity Hospice Nurses and Companion Care Nurses for all the loving care they provided.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Montrose Baptist Church, P.O. Box 86, Montrose, GA 31065 or to a charity of your choice.
