Graveside funeral services with military honors for Mr. William Merrell "Big Boy" Bray, age 95, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Westview Cemetery with Rev. Stephen Blitch and Rev. Roger Holley officiating.
Mr. Bray was born May 30, 1920 in Lovett, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Rubin Freeman and Marie Veal Bray, his wife of 67 years, Mary Hilda Dixon Bray and 5 sisters, Joyce Joiner, Jo Ezell, Vera Goins, Patsy Foskey, and Eloise Allen. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army and was retired as a carpenter. He was a member of Piney Mount United Methodist Church and American Legion Post #44. Mr. Bray passed away Sunday April 3, 2016 at his home.
He is survived by a son, Jerry (Diane) Bray of Wrightsville, four daughters, Jean (Tony) Veal of Tennille, Dianne (Johnny) Tanner of Wrightsville, Judy (Mike) Blue of Tennille, and Teri (Bruce) Deal of Wrightsville, grandchildren, Travis Veal, Natasha Helton, Tori Beverly, Holly Rowland, Dustin Blue, Mahalia Tanner and five great-grandchildren, Chris & Will Helton, Pruitt Beverly, Brayden & Brayleigh Rowland and several nieces and nephews.
His nephews, Randy Bray, Rubin Bray, Bobby Goins, Butch Joiner, Jamie Allen and Joe Ben Foskey will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday, April 4, 2016 at 9157 Georgia Highway 15 North, Wrightsville, Georgia 31096.
