William (Scooter) Lewis Githens, age 74, passed away July 10, 2019 at Serenity Hospice.
He was born September 3, 1944 in Pahokee, FL to the late Walter E. Githens and Frances Elam Githens.
Mr. Githens was a United States Air Force veteran. He moved to Dublin 42 years ago and was a welder. For 28 years he worked with Dublin Construction Co, where he loved to teach welding to the younger men there.
He is survived by his loving wife, T.J. (Teresa) Githens and her son Richard E. (Pam) Githens both of Dublin. Sister Jennifer Hines of Dublin and nephews Landon Hodges and Cole Hodges of Dexter. Niece Casey (Kyle) Semple of Athens. Brother in laws Arnold (Lynn) Roberson of Dexter, Wayne Roberson of Warner Robins and Michael Roberson of Athens. Sisters in law Judy (Mike) Allen of Dexter and Karen (Mickey) McLain of Warner Robins. Mother in law Ann Roberson of Dublin. Three step-grandchildren Samantha Francis of Dexter, Timothy Welch of Warner Robins and Jordan Welch of Dublin and one great grandchild Bobby Nobles of Dexter.
Services for Mr. Githens will be 3:00 P.M. Friday, July 12, 2019 in the Chan Stanley Memorial Chapel. Pastor David Pohto will officiate.
The family to receive friends from 2:00 P.M. to 2:45 P.M. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of arrangements.
