Ken was born August 27, 1948, in Sandersville, Georgia. He was the son of the late William F. Flanders and Martha Lake Flanders. Ken graduated from Wrightsville High School in 1967, and it was there that he first met the love of his life, Jewel. The two wed on February 2, 1969 and began their life in Dublin, where he worked for his father at Cochran Provision Company. He would later become a district executive for Boy Scouts of America for a nine-county area, having begun in the organization himself as just a cub scout and eventually becoming a Boy Scouts of America executive in Durham, N.C. He would often say, "Once A Scout, Always A Scout." Ken was also a personnel manager at J.P. Stevens in Dublin and at the Tifton plant in Tifton, Ga. He later became personnel manager at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin.

Ken was a member of Pine Forest Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Faith Builders Sunday School Class and served on numerous committees. He was also a faithful member of The Exchange Club of Dublin, earning the honor of Exchangite of the Year in 1992-93. He was the owner and operator of The Olive Branch Christian Bookstore for 40 years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and tree farmer on his family farm, and he loved his Georgia Bulldogs. Ken passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at his home surrounded by family following a brief illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Blanche Farley.

Ken is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jewel T. Flanders of Wrightsville; a daughter, Jennifer Flanders (Scott) Thigpen of Newnan; and three grandchildren, Grant Thigpen, Callie Thigpen, and Caroline Thigpen; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Stuart Stanley, Will Tanner, Lewis Tanner, III, Ronnie Yeomans, John Clem, and James Tanner.
