Willie James Oglesby

A private graveside service for Mr. Willie James Oglesby, age 90, will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 8, 2020 in Dublin Memorial Gardens with Rev. Hugh Spivey officiating. Mr. Oglesby was born May 20, 1929 in Jenkins County, Georgia to Tom and Abbie Mae Oglesby. He served in the United States Army, stationed in Korea, was a member of the American Legion Post 17 and a member of Woodmen of the World. He worked for Robins Airforce Base for 38 years, was a driver for C & H Bus Line, and worked for Jepeway Craig Commission Stockyard. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Charlie Oglesby and T.W. Oglesby, sisters Lizzie Proctor, Ruth Lane and Harriet Brinson, and his first wife Myrlene Grimes Oglesby. Mr. Oglesby passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at Serenity Place Hospice. Mr. Oglesby is survived by his wife Jackie Sue Oglesby of Dublin, his children Billy Oglesby (Barbara), Kathy Kight (Larry), and Kay Spivey (Steve) all of Dublin, stepchildren Mike Kirkland of Tomball, TX and Danny Kirkland of Orange, TX, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother Wallace Oglesby of Vero Beach, FL and sister Mildred Wells of Metter. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Serenity Place Hospice, 504 Parker Dairy Rd, Dublin, GA 31021. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
