Funeral services for Mr. Willie Amos Sweat, age 91, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 17, 2021 in the Richard N. Stanley Jr. Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Westview Cemetery. Rev. Grady Mimbs and Rev. Mark Sweat will officiate.
Mr. Sweat was born November 25, 1929, in Reidsville, Georgia; he was preceded in death by his wife, the late Lois Fulford Sweat, his parents, the late, Willie Barney Sweat and Loree Hammock Sweat, his brother, Herman Sweat, his sisters, Burma Pacetti and Marie Hutchinson, a granddaughter, Laurie Tanner Sullivan and extended family members, Jean "Mimi" Sweat. He was a longtime member of Ivey Baptist Church. Willie was a World War II veteran and the owner/operator of Sweat's Seafood and BBQ for more than 20 years. Mr. Sweat passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021.
He is survived by two sons, Ray (Jean) Sweat of Meridian, MS and Tony (Dawn) Sweat of Gordon, a daughter, Gwen (Ronnie) Carter of Wrightsville, three brothers, Wain Sweat of Wrightsville, Ronnie (Patricia) Sweat of Swainsboro, and Kenneth (Maryland) Sweat of Wrightsville, three sisters, Wilhemina (Billy) Walden of Swainsboro, Claudette (Buddy) Brown of Swainsboro, and Shirley (Lester) Underwood of Swainsboro, many nieces and nephews, seven grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. to 2:45 P.M. on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Sweat, Dwain Sweat, Cody Freeman, Casey Young, Andy Dixon and Damon Blythe.
Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
