Wynell Kitchens Powell

Funeral services for Wynell Kitchens Powell, age 83 will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 27, 2025, at Liberty Grove Baptist Church, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Keith Powell will officiate.

Mrs. Powell was born February 3, 1941, in Dublin, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Roy J. Kitchens and Willie Mae Garner Kitchens. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Russell T. Powell, a daughter, Gina Lynn Smith, a daughter-in-law, Kim Burney Powell, and 2 brothers, Ernest L. Kitchens and Royce Kitchens. She loved spending her time reading and was Big Georgia Bulldogs Fan. She was a member of Liberty Grove Baptist Church. She was a retired pharmacy technician for Troup Drugs, and a bus driver for the Johnson County School System. She was also a homemaker. Mrs. Powell passed away Friday, January 24, 2025, at Wrightsville Manor Nursing Home.

Mrs. Powell is survived by her children, Lisa Dawn Powell (Greg C.) Rowland of Wrightsville; a son, Russell Keith Powell of Brunswick; 6 grandchildren, Whitney (Jim) Claxton of Wrightsville, Casey (Dorsie) Smith of Swainsboro, Jonathan (Tabitha) Smith of Wrightsville, Maria Powell of Brunswick, Isiah Powell of Brunswick, and Naomi Powell of Brunswick; and 6 great-grandchildren, Lawton Claxton of Wrightsville, Bristol Claxton of Wrightsville, Amy Smith of Wrightsville, Zach Smith of Wrightsville, Natalie Smith of Swainsboro, and Nicole Smith of Swainsboro.

The Johnson County Sheriff's Department will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. Monday, January 27, 2025, at Liberty Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
